The message on the Wednesday Service in Deer Park Community Church in Chapel Hill is taken from Exodus 13:17-18 titled "Go through the Straight Path".
"Through the history of how God led the people of Israelite through the desert and enter into Canaan land, we can see how God led us in our walk of faith. Although there is straight path that God can lead the people of Israelite through, He led them go around by the desert road towards the Red Sea due to the people's disobedient and lack of faith. It will be much easier and quicker if the Israelite unite with Moses and God from the beginning to set up faith to follow. But Since they kept complaining and wanting to go back to Egypt when they encounter difficulties, in order to let them not to face war and go back, God has to take them through a longer path. We found the same image inside of us, wanting to retreat when we face difficulties, but yet we need to remember that it is God who are taking us along the way, and will lead us through all trial and difficulties. On the path of Faith, there is God's sovereignty and providence that he will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bare. It is a test of faith through the trial in the desert that we have to go through to restore our faith towards God to enter into the Canaan land. We are able to endure the time of tribulation because we know that all the trials will one day pass and we will receive the automat glory in Christ. When we set up faith and have an attitude of obedient to follow God, He can lead us through more straight path that we won't lose time wondering. May we be the one who can trust God and rely on Him in the process of all kinds of test and trial. "
