Sunday Sermon: I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life

Minister Leah delivered the Sunday sermon titled " I am the way, the truth and the life" in Deer Park Community Church on March 17th.

The message is taken from John 14: 1-12 "This is the moment the path of the cross is determined. Jesus is comforting his disciples and explaining to them regarding the cross and his death. He said that he is going to prepare a place for them. Regarding the death that was coming to Him, Jesus does not regard the death as mere death, but inside of the Lord there is the hope for Heaven. For the one who believe in Christ, there is no death. The life we live on earth is limited, but the life in heaven is forever. The life on earth is a process we prepare for life in heaven. More then how long we live our life on earth, how do we live our life on earth is more important. What kind of life we should live on earth? And what we are to undertake? Jesus is the one who clearly reveal it to us.  He said he is the way,the truth and the life. Jesus is the way to God. In China here is a famous scholar name Kong Zi, and one of his disciples' name is "Zi Lu" which means the way to know Kong Zi. Just like that, Jesus is the way to know God.  Through Jesus, God clearly reveal himself.

In there history, there are many attempts how man try to reach God. With reasoning, we can know God exist but we are not able to know how God. There are many religious try to describe how God is like Buddhism. But the God in Christ inanity unlike many religious is known through revelation. Instead of us trying to reach God, it is God who reveal himself. Jesus came to this world as a man and through his life, he clearly reveal who God is, and how God is.  The cross is the greatest demonstration of God's love to us. Through Christ, we can know God.  And Jesus said he is the truth. Not merely did he teach the truth, but his life itself is the truth. Just as John testify, "the word become flesh". He is the whom we have seen and touched. Through his whole life, Jesus has revealed God to us. In Chinese, the word "Men Tu" which means disciples indicate that we are the door to know Christ. As his disciples we are the one who are to follow the life of Christ and to make God known. During the period of lent, may we meditate the life of Christ deeply and live our life revealing God's work and glory." Minister Leah shared.
